Managing Partner, Ford of Europe, Ogilvy Advertising

Tony Grigg

Tony graduated from Exeter University in 1989 with a degree in economics and social history. After university, a particularly memorable recruitment ad enticed him onto a graduate traineeship at a shipping company. When shipping failed to float his boat, he thought he might try his hand at producing ads instead of replying to them.

Joining the F John French agency, which later became Osprey Communications, Tony learned the ropes over a period of six years at what was one of the first integrated agencies in the industry. He became the agency’s youngest-ever director.

A move to Ogilvy & Mather in 1996 saw the beginning of a long association with Ford, first as an account director on the Ford Dealers’ Advertising Association business, then on Ford of Britain. Tony then returned to run FDAA (by this time a considerable piece of business for Ogilvy & Mather) and was instrumental in the European roll-out of the FDAA concept across numerous markets.

He was made account leader on Ogilvy’s Ford of Britain business in 2000 and two years later took overall charge of its Ford of Europe business as managing partner.

Ogilvy works for Ford in over twenty European markets and as regional account chief Tony also plays a pivotal role in Ogilvy’s working relationships with other WPP agencies including MindShare and Wunderman as part of Ford’s integrated Blue Team.

He is married with two daughters.
