OgilvyOne London and IBM have created two innovative new phone applications to transform the way tennis fans interact with this year’s Wimbledon tournament.
With a partnership now spanning 19 years, IBM and Wimbledon’s collaboration represents an annual opportunity to enhance the All England Club’s historic event by showcasing IBM’s very latest technology. And this year is no different. The two apps will create a brand new digital platform for tennis fans the world over, to get the most from this year’s tournament.
The first app, developed for T-mobile’s G1phone, is designed for those lucky enough to be attending the tournament. Seer Android Beta takes a live video feed from the handset’s camera, and superimposes constantly updated content and data directly related to the live stream. This means that you can be sitting on Henman Hill (or is it Murray Mound? Ed.) and, pointing your phone towards Court No. 2, will instantly be shown who is playing and the latest score to within seconds of the umpire calling it out! Other features include live updates on seat availability for all courts, taxi and public transport information (incl. traffic info) and restaurant table availability. However, the video at the bottom of this post describes it far better than a list of attributes ever could, so please watch to learn more!
Come back here on the 22nd June for the link to download Seer Android Beta.
The second, the Seer Aggregator, is a Twitter app (suitable for most mobile handsets), that collates content from commentators, players and over 40 onsite IBM scouts to bring fans the most insightful and up-to-date info on all things Wimbledon. And a smart filtering tool allows subscribers to receive the information most applicable to them. So whether you’re sitting in centre court or 10,000 miles away in Sydney, you can receive identical real-time match scores, player interviews and expert opinions.
To download the Seer Aggregator text ‘smart’ to 60999.
Of course, the IBM and Wimbledon website will provide an online hub for all tennis related news between 22nd June and (rain permitting) 5th July.
